"Ruby!" Torchic was ready this time and didn't get scared of the Leer but just watched and waited for her next command. Takashi just smiled. This was it, his chance was coming Shinx was looking exhausted.

He grabbed a pokeball from his waist, activating the capsule to expand for capture. He threw the pokeball over Ruby's head, curious she watched as the ball headed straight for the blue baby lion and hit it on the forehead. The sphere opened and shot the red light turning the pokemon to energy. It closed and shook. Takashi waited in anticipation of his hopefully successful capture.

Niether of the pokemon could fight against the red beams of light, as they were both engulfed in light. The pokeballs shook once, twice, then ding! Both pokemon were caught.

Kalia whooped as the pokeball stopped rocking and dinged softly. Running over to it she scooped it up, grinning, before triggering the release, letting the beam of red light materialize into the small yellow shinx she'd just caught. Sitting down opposite it, she reached out a flat hand, palm up, and allowed the small kit to sniff it, before gently moving to scratch it behind the ear. The shinx let out a rumbling noise, reminiscent of a purr, and leaned into the gesture, sitting down.

Kalia smiled, motioning Kris over. Warily, he drew near, tilting his head and leaning down to look at the shinx closely, before crossing his arms and nodding once. Kalia laughed. "I'm glad you approve, Kris." Turning back to the shinx, she looked at it for a little bit longer, before pulling out her PDA and activating the pokedex application. It told her it was a male shinx, and something called a shiny, as well as some data on it.

She scratched the shinx some more, contemplating a name, before grinning. "I've got it. How about Hunter?" she asked the shinx, who bounced in place enthusiastically. "Hunter it is." she laughed, scooping up her pokemon. Kris climbed up onto her shoulders, while Hunter was ontent to remain in her arms. She grinned, and stood up, careful to balance the two. "It's great to meet you Hunter! We're gonna be best friends!"

Patch watched from a distance, trying to make sure these were trainers and not the ones she was supposed to be looking out for. When they got into battles with the wild pokemon it became obvious and the ranger relaxed. She waited until the to pokemon had been caught then put her hands together in an applause for the two.

"Well done, those shinx are feisty little pokemon!" she called out as she waved to the other two.

Takashi ran up to Ruby when the battle was over. "Ruby!" The two excited for their first victory she jumped into his arms. Takashi had a big grin and Ruby nuzzled her fluffy head against his chest. "You did great Ruby. We'll be an unbeatable duo. Shall we meet the new guy?"

The two walked up to the pokeball, Torchic sniffing it first to make sure it was okay. Takashi smiled a little and released the Shinx from the ball. It looked around shook up his fur and scratched the back of his head. "Welcome to the team little guy." Shinx looked up at his hand and turned his head giving no sign of affection back. Upset with the reaction Torchic fluffed up her feathers and chirped at Shinx. Shinx replied back, the two having a little conversation with each other.

"Alright then, I think i'll call you Fang. How does that work?" The shinx looked up at him again and nodded. He seemed very proud of himself and didn't want to give into a trainer easily. "Welcome to the team Fang."

Deciding that his two pokemon needed a good rest after the battle he returned them to their pokeball's. Only then did he hear another person. Looking over at them he didn't recognize the person. Of course that was going to be given since this was a new place. They seemed friendly enough but he was hoping they wouldn't have to get in a battle just yet. he waved back at the person exchanging friendly greetings.

Kalia looked towards the source of the voices, jumping when she realised there were other people around. She put Hunter down, waving hello as the small pokemon hide behind her leg, growling. "Hi! I'm Kalia. Who are you guys?" She walked a bit closer, tilting her head in curiosity. "Are you trainers too?" She took in the sight of the big bull next to the girl, and the small chick and other shinx that the male had. "What kind of pokemon are those?" A pause. "Well aside from the shinx." She smiled down at her own. "I know what that is. The blue is a pretty color on it."

Patch smiled, "Nice to meet you Kalia, I am Patch. I'm a pokemon ranger, though, after seeing that guy catch the other shinx, I'm guessing he's a trainer too." She began walking towards the two, glad to meet other people on the trail. "That's a Taurus... and from the looks of it, that's a torchic. Adorable little fire chick!"

Taurus perked it's head up from a large crop of grass to see what it's new human friend was doing. .... She was WALKING RIGHT FOR STRANGE BEINGS! Protect nice-smelling friend! CHARGE!

And with that the rather uninformed bull pokemon charged right at the nearest trainer, the one that had spoken.

Nick walked out of the town, surfing the internet looking for an appropriate name, "How about Citrine?"

The sandshrew walking beside him shook his head.

"Hmmm," Nick said while looking through the webpage, "Do you have a preference on letters?" The sandshrew nodded. "How about I go through the alphabet for you and you nod when I get to one you like. Okay?" The shrew nodded again.

Once Nick reached the letter S, the sandshrew nodded and put his paw up in a 'stop' action. "Well then, I hope you don't want to be called Sandshrew, I feel like that's a little silly, especially if we encounter others of your species. Do you want to be called Sandshrew?" he asked, the sandshrew shook his head. "Okay, I'll look for some mineral names that start with the letter S."

They soon agreed on the name Sylvite. "Awesome, I can call you Sylv for short. You're not very talkative are you?"

Sylvite shook his head and looked at the ground in apology.

"That's alright. You know, I do have a bit of telepathy, so I can talk to you directly if you want. I would have just asked you to tell me your actual name, but I have trouble pronouncing names in pokélanguage so it would have been horribly mangled."

Sylv looked at Nick in surprise.

"Maybe you'll have to make me try someday, once your more comfortable around me. Shall we walk off the path to try to find you a few battles?" Nick asked.

The sandshrew nodded eagerly and they walked into the tall grass, hoping to find some wild pokemon to battle.
